A well- decorated home is every one’s fancy. Apart from colorful rugs and elegant chandeliers, there are indoor potted plants to add a dash of green, to your fashionable interior decoration. And the sight of fresh green plants provides you with positive energy and also helps to clean the air.

Potted plants can be of different sizes. A large standing plant like palm, compliments nicely the well lit side of your room. Small potted plants like cactus look good on centre-tables. As different plants bloom at different times of the year, it is best to keep a variety of plants. Some of the best potted plants are palms, shrub roses, good luck plants, cactus bonsai, braided ficus tree, dragon tree and peace lily.

However, the potted plants need proper maintenance. Keep them in proper pots in places where they can receive adequate sunlight. It is also necessary to water and monitor its soil. They also need to be re-potted and trimmed at intervals.

    Recycling your Feather Pillow

Posted In: Eco Friendly Homes, Furnishings by carbonfreehomes

    Instructions

    1. You should put zippered pillow covers on old feathered pillows if you want to donate them; as the seams of an old pillow may be worn. They should be washed gently with less soap and dried on a line.

    2. The pillows should be dropped off at a recycling center or donated to charity shops. They can also be donated to animal shelters.

    3. For making compost, the pillows should be cut open, the feathers gathered and dumped on your compost pile. Ensure that they are covered so that they are not blown away.

    4. A thin layer of feathers should be placed in a hole while planting. Feathers contain nitrogen and are very useful for soft fruits such as raspberries and strawberries.

    5. The feathers can be used as a stuffing for other items, such as cushions and pet beds. They can also be used for many craft projects.
