    Curtains are much easier to maintain than blinds. You can simply dump it in the washing machine and get it cleaned. But in case of blinds, each slab should be wiped down separately. Curtains are more economical in comparison to the trendy designer blinds made by professionals. They are also easier to install. You can do it yourself, whereas blinds need professional help. Besides, blinds are only available in pastel or neutral shades, while, you get curtains in an array of colors and designs. If you are thinking about the weight, do not worry, these days there are curtains of lighter fabrics too.
    Blinds are certainly exquisite, but beautiful curtains are a better pick as they are economical and easy to maintain.

    The rugs and carpets are a valued part of any interior embellishment. And thus proper care should be maintained to retain their elegance.

    Regular vacuum cleaning is a must. If there is furniture above the rug, they should be lifted up at times so that all the sides get cleaned. It reduces the risk of moth infestations. Laid them outside occasionally, if it is sunny, to make it germ-free. Go for a professional steam cleaning once in three to five years. It checks the building up of grit. Be careful not to use harsh cleaning materials. Contact your local rug dealer immediately in case of color run. Draw up your curtains during the sunniest time of the day it prevents premature fading. If there are spillages, you can use a paper towel or sponge to soak it up or else just leave it to dry on its own.

    Securing your Daybed Cover

    Instructions

    1. The daybed cover should be removed from the daybed. It should be turned inside out and placed across a flat working surface.

    2. Each side of the daybed cover should be measured along with the corresponding side of the daybed where it is used. It can be measured twice for accuracy.

    3. Velcro strips should be cut to match your measurements. The Velcro should be taped along the bottom of your daybed cover in such a way that it doesn’t show.

    4. The adhesive protector from each strip of Velcro should be removed. A thin line of hot glue should be put on each strip the Velcro should be pressed firmly against the trim of the daybed cover.

    5. The previous step should be repeated for the corresponding side Velcro. This side should be applied to the daybed itself. This thin strip of Velcro can not be seen while the cover is on.

    Instructions

    1. The Persian rugs should be vacuumed both horizontally and vertically to remove dirt from underneath the knots.

    2. The rug should be flipped over and the fibers pushed back underneath the rug. The back should be vacuumed like you did the front of the rug. The rug should be beaten with a broom to remove dust.

    3. About 2 tbsp. of baby shampoo and 1 gallon of tepid water should be mixed in a bucket. A soft bush should be dipped into the mixture and the rug should be gently scrubbed and rinsed with cool water.

    4. The rug should be hanged back on the fence to dry. The rug should be vacuumed to fluff up the rug fibers.

    5. A tear in the rug should be repaired by flipping it over and by pressing a piece of duct tape of the same color to match the background on the back.

    Recycling your Feather Pillow

    Instructions

    1. You should put zippered pillow covers on old feathered pillows if you want to donate them; as the seams of an old pillow may be worn. They should be washed gently with less soap and dried on a line.

    2. The pillows should be dropped off at a recycling center or donated to charity shops. They can also be donated to animal shelters.

    3. For making compost, the pillows should be cut open, the feathers gathered and dumped on your compost pile. Ensure that they are covered so that they are not blown away.

    4. A thin layer of feathers should be placed in a hole while planting. Feathers contain nitrogen and are very useful for soft fruits such as raspberries and strawberries.

    5. The feathers can be used as a stuffing for other items, such as cushions and pet beds. They can also be used for many craft projects.
